Back on November 5, 2013, the fabulous folks at Trulia Luxe Living revealed that Supernatural actor, Jared Padalecki, has listed his Studio City home for $2,495,000 on November 4, 2013. 

The home measures 4 Beds/4.25 Baths on 3,818 sqft on a total lot size of 0.35 acres built in 1924. The listing description states:

According to Wikipedia, Padalecki resides in Vancouver with actress wife Genevieve Cortese who are expecting a second baby in early 2014. On a somewhat related note, fellow Supernatural co-star, Jensen Ackles, also sold a Studio City home back on May 2013. Not sure for the reason to sell but maybe related to the second child coming.

Celeb R.E.: Twilight Actor Jackson Rathbone Purchases Infected Mushroom's Erez Eisen's Studio City Home

The fabulous folks at Trulia Luxe Living revealed back on September 26, 2013 that actor Jackson Rathbone best known for playing "Jasper Hale" in the Twilight series has purchased Erez Eisen's Studio City home with recording studio for $1.2 million on August 7, 2013. I wonder how much did the recording studio influence Rathbone's decision to purchase considering his part time gig involves touring with his band, 100 Monkeys. 

Erez Eisen who started the electronic music group, Infected Mushroom, with Amit Duvdevani originally listed this home on June 25, 2013 for $1,199,000 which was posted on this site back on July 8, 2013 which includes home facts and pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Back on August 15, 2013, the always informative Lauren Beale from LA Times Hot Property revealed that newly divorced acting couple Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth sold their Toluca Lake home for $3.99 million which was purchased by The Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady on April 24, 2013

The home measures 6 Beds/6.75 Baths on 8,416 sqft on a total lot size of 9,691 sqft built in 1934. The home also includes an adjoining lot measuring 1 Bed/3 Baths on 1,269 sqft on a total lot size of 9,176 sqft built in 1937. The listing description states:

This sale did not come easy as Facinelli and Garth have had this home on the market since June 2010 with an asking price of $5,995,000 with subsequent price drops ever since.

On a historical note, this home was previously owned by actor and country singer Tex Ritter and later his son, John Ritter, who became wildly popular in the hit show Three's Company as well as other TV shows and movies and passed away suddenly on September 11, 2003 at the age of 54 due to an aortic dissection.

Maples purchased this home for $1.349 million on November 17, 1999 representing a gain of $851,000 before taxes, commissions, carrying costs, and any renovation expenses.

Celeb R.E.: Legendary Actor Ed Asner Lists Studio City Home

Back on July 15, 2013, the fabulous folks at Trulia Luxe Living revealed that legendary actor, Ed Asner, has listed his long time Studio City home for $1,500,000 on July 12, 2013 which has since been reduced to $1,399,000 on July 25, 2013. 

Ed Asner is best known for playing Emmy award winning, "Lou Grant", in the 1970s and 1980s on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff Lou Grant. Asner also provided the voice of "Carl Fredricksen" in the Academy Award winning Pixar film Up in 2009. One critic of Asner's performance in Up said "They should create a new category for this year's Academy Award for Best Vocal Acting in an Animated Film and name Asner as the first recipient. Asner has many accolades and accomplishments too long for this post, so I suggest reviewing his IMDB and Wikipedia page. 

Recently, there have been rumors of Asner's health demise at the age of 83 when he had trouble with his lines and appeared disoriented on March 12, 2013 while performing "FDR" a the Marquette Pavilion in Gary, Indiana.

Celeb R.E.: Former NBA Star Kenny The Jet Smith Calling It Quits in Encino

Back on July 17, 2013, the fabulous folks at Trulia Luxe Living revealed that former NBA star and current TNT NBA analyst, Kenny Smith, has listed his Encino home for $2,975,000 on July 16, 2013. 

Kenny Smith was drafted sixth in the 1987 NBA draft where he played for the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistions, Orlando Magic, and Denver Nuggets. He won two NBA championships with the Houston Rockets in 1994 and 1995. After he retired in 1998, he joined Turner Sports for a broadcasting career. 

The home measures 6 Beds/7 Baths on 6,106 sqft on a total lot size of 0.60 acres built in 1963. The listing description states:

Kenny Smith barely purchased the home 2 years ago on October 24, 2011 for $1,850,000 where it appears to be that he did some minor upgrading. Based on the current asking price, Kenny Smith will profit $1,125,000 not including taxes, commissions, upgrades, and any carrying costs. 

The reason for the move and next location is unknown but Kenny Smith who is married to The Price Is Right model, Gwendolyn Osbourne, could be looking for a bigger home as they just welcomed their second child in fall 2012 in addition to other children they have from previous relationships. I am guessing that they are relocating to Calabasas to be with the rest of the ballers discussed on this blog. 

Prior to this home, Kenny Smith was living in Stevenson Ranch which was also the location of his wedding ceremony to Gwendolyn Osbourne. This home measures 5 Bed/3 Bath on 3,318 sqft on a lot size of 1.1 acres built in 1997. Kenny Smith purchased the property on December 20, 2005 for $1,350,000 and sold for a stomach turning $450,000 loss for $900,000 on December 9, 2009. This same home sold again as a bank sale on January 1, 2013 for $556,000.

Celeb R.E.: Oscar Winning Actress Octavia Spencer Settles Down in Toluca Lake

On July 3, 2013, the faboluous folks at Trulia Luxe Living revealed that Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer purchased a Toluca Lake 1920's Spanish style home for $841,500 on April 23, 2013.

Spencer is a veteran in show business where she started as an intern at the age of 16 on the set of The Long Walk Home, a film starring Whoopie Goldberg. Her first big break was in the 1996 film, A Time to Kill. But she reached widespread fame for her role as "Minny Jackson" in the 2011 film, The Help, which earned her an Oscar for best supporting actress in addition to numerous other awards won for that role. 

The home measures 3 Beds/2 Baths on 1,714 sqft on a total lot size of 7,381 sqft built in 1927. The listing description states:

This home was originally listed for $809,900 on February 24, 2013 and it appears that a bidding war ensued as Spencer purchased the home for $31,600 more. Previous to this home, Spencer may have been living in an apartment on Riverside Drive in Valley Village but I cannot confirm as those records are not public so dont quote me here.

I am a couple of months late on this one but the fine folks at Trulia Luxe Living first reported the dual home sales of actor Jensen Ackles back on May 7, 2013. 

Jensen Ackles is widely known for playing "Dean Winchester" on Supernatural and "Eric Brady" on Days of our Lives from 1998 - 2002. 

The first home Ackles sold was in Studio City (shown above and located next door to the mid century streamline modern Lydecker Hilltop House HCM# 918) and was apparently sold under the radar as there are no listing descriptions or pictures available that I can find. The home measures 2 Beds/2 Baths on 1,414 sqft on a total lot size of 5,337 sqft built in 1964. This home was last purchased on August 22, 2003 for $645,000 and sold at a gain of $55,000 for $700,000 on February 15, 2013. This final sale price may have been sold at a small loss or breakeven depending on how much Ackles has spent on the property considering that a 6% commission for closing costs is $42,000.

The second home is located in Brentwood (shown above) which was listed on the MLS with an abundance of photos and property description. This home measures 3 Beds/3.5 Baths on 3,554 sqft on a total lot size of 0.29 acres built in 1947. This home was last purchased on September 25, 2009 for $2,435,000 and sold for $3 million on March 20, 2013 representing a gain of $565,000. Ackles originally listed this home for $3,495,000 on July 3, 2012 which was reduced to $3 million for the final sales price. The listing description states:

Ackles' new home location or the reason for the above mentioned sales but could be related to the fact that he just became a new father on May 30, 2013 to a daugther, Justice Jay "JJ" Ackles. Typically, when there is a newborn, that means there is a newer bigger house to accommodate the expanding family. Only time will tell on the new whereabouts.
