As we know I get a tad obsessed with gorgeous workspaces, 

particularly those that are creative and provides space for collaboration.

It's no wonder that I am beyond inspired by the offices of Refinery 29.

For those that aren't familiar with Refinery 29, it's one of my daily reads 

that provides you everything you want to know about fashion, beauty, living, 

entertainment, news, how to's and so much more.

Magnificent Houses - Casas Magníficas - Casa ou Palacete?

I love it when someone has the courage and vision to take a classic and palatial structure like this and make it absolutely contemporary. Notice the abundance of white, the polished stainless steel table, the contemporary paintings on the wall and the ikea bookcases, in contrast to the classical structure and details of the house. It's looks like it was a family house inherited by a young couple who decorated it on a budget, in a contemporary style but respected and maintained it's original soul. I know it's very hard to find a house like this but it's nice to look at it and dream!

Adoro quando alguém tem a coragem e a visão de pegar numa estrutura clássica e palaciana como esta e torná-la absolutamente contemporânea. Reparem na abundância do branco, a mesa em inox polido os quadros contemporâneos e as estantes do ikea!! Em contraste com a estrutura e os detalhes clássicos da casa. Parece pertencer a um casal jovem e contemporâneo que herdou uma casa de família e tornou-a contemporânea, decorou-a com um budget limitado mas recuperou e respeitou a estrutura antiga e a história da casa. Eu sei que é muito difícil ter uma casa assim mas podemos sonhar um pouco!... 

É uma pena que tantas casas e palacetes como este existem no nosso país, e são destruídos para fazer prédios modernos... ou então são comprados por bancos e companhias de seguros, que os mobilam com fabulosos móveis de escritório tipo fluxograma e candeeiros suspensos de lâmpadas florescentes!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day 
to all those fabulous dad's out there

I had an interesting chat with a couple of my friends yesterday about our dads. 

I was so saddened to hear their less than happy memories of their "dads"
 - if they could even be called that!

I've always known how lucky I am to have a great dad but it hit home even more yesterday.

Growing up I had a dad who worked hard to support his family {this is where I believe I learnt
my good work ethic from} but he always had time for us. When I was younger I always
used to nag him about playing a board games with me at night when I'm sure all he wanted to do
was relax with a beer and watch some television after a long day at work. 

He's the one who taught me how to ride a bike and helped me with my homework. 

It sounds like a hallmark card or something doesn't it, but it's not it's called real life,
how it should be and called being a parent! 

Happy father's day also to my brother who is also a really great dad to my nephew
{who idolises him by the way}.

Thanks dad for being the best dad ever, there's no other like you.

Inspired by Nature

Anything old and natural, attracts Katrin like a magnet. Abandoned boards, fallen branches, sticks, stones, even rusty nails. This 15th century house where she takes all her finds used to be a mill, then the building was converted into a monastery. Katrin Arens and her two daughters now live here. She also has another passion: sewing clothes for children. Of course, the fabrics she uses are also recovered.
Have a look at the details. I'm sure that some of the ideas will inspire you.
