Lo and behold a couple of months later and the always hilarious, Your Mama, at the Realestalker, revealed on January 8, 2013 that Kardashian/Odom officially listed their home on the MLS for $5,499,000 and were in the beginning stages of a divorce confirming the rumors first announced at TMZ.

The home measures 7 Beds/8 Baths on 8,000 sqft on a total lot size of 0.75 acres built in 2003 in the exclusive guard-gated Mulholland Park. The listing description states:

Kardashian/Odom first acquired this property for $3,950,000 on December 18, 2009 which if sold at today's asking price would translate into a profit of $1,549,000 before any expenses which is a pretty good return after close to 4 years of living in the home. Its been speculated that Kardashian has already moved back to the mother's nest in Hidden Hills while Odom might be in Florida where he owns another home.

The total amount spent is unknown but based on the current asking price, the Anders stand to gain $3.25 million before any expenses. Its not known where the Anders are moving onto but I am guessing a bigger home in the Calabasas/Hidden Hills area. Also, the Anders previously owned a 3 Bed/2 Bath on 1,489 sqft condo in Old Town Pasadena that was purchased for $340,000 on July 28, 2000 and sold for $535,000 on July 25, 2003.

Celeb R.E.: Heidi Klum Purchases Writer-Producer Edwin Weinberger's Sherman Oaks Mansion

The always hilarious Your Mama at the Realestalker revealed to the world on October 15, 2013 that German born supermodel turned Emmy-winning Project Runway super mogul Heidi Klum (who recently divorced from Seal) has just purchased the home of Edwin Weinberger who is a long time Hollywood writer-producer for such hit shows like The Cosby Show and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in the Sherman Oaks area for $9,875,000 on October 1, 2013.

This home was previously discussed on this blog back on April 2, 2012 when Weinberger listed the home for $14,150,000 million and before that was originally listed at $15 million on October 21, 2010. We never thought this home would sell after sitting on the market for so long but it finally did sell with a steep discount compared to the original listing price. This home has amazing views of the SFV which I envy. You can view more pics and details of the property here

Back on September 25, 2013, the always hilarious Your Mama at the Realestalker revealed that Dawson's Creek star, James Van Der Beek, has listed is Valley Village home for $1.295 million on August 19, 2013 which was reduced to $1.250 million on September 18, 2013, and then reduced again on October 11, 2013 to $1,195,000.

The home measures 4 Beds/3 Baths on 3,017 sqft on a total lot size of 9,098 sqft built in 1936. The listing description states:

Van Der Beek purchased this home for $1,260,000 on February 21, 2006 which means if sold at today's asking price translates into a loss of $65,000 not factoring in expenses and those hefty commissions. Its not known if Van Der Beek actually lives in this home or if it is used as an investment property. Additionally, Van Der Beek's current residence is not known so its possible he is still living in this home awaiting an eventual sale.
Prior to this home, Van Der Beek lived in the hills of Studio City occupying a 3 Bed/3.5 bath home on 2,961 sqft on a total lot size of 0.55 acres built in 1999. This home was purchased on February 14, 2001 for $1,330,000 and sold at a $495,000 profit not factoring expenses for $1,825,000 on June 5, 2009 near the bottom of the current housing boom. The listing description states:
Celebrity estate, private gated jewel, nestled in the Studio City hills, has 180 degree jetliner views, 3 beds, 3 1/2 baths, upstairs master suite with wood cathedral ceilings, 2 flat grassy yards, 3 fireplaces, gourmet entertainers kitchen, gorgeous baths, surround sound throughout, tight security, hardwood mahogany floors and Brazilian slate, open floor plan, french doors, gazebo with built-in Viking range and bar, large motor court, spectacular pool and spa, private patio upstairs from master. Celeb R.E.: Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Selling Calabasas Mansion?

The latest rumor from the always hilarious Your Mama at the Realestalker is that Hollywood power couple, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, quietly put their Calabasas mansion (sometimes reported as Malibu) up for sale as a pocket listing (meaning not listed on the MLS) asking a monstrous $42 million back on August 27, 2013 which is the highest asking single family real estate property in the SFV at this time.

The other rumor floating around is that Will and Jada are separated and are currently trying to dissolve of their biggest assets which has already included a 7 acre Hawaiian hideaway on the island of Kauai  that was sold to Russian real estate mogul Dmitry Rybolovlev for $20 million according to the Realestalker.

And the third rumor which is the main reason for rumors #1 and #2 is that Jada is having an affair with Marc Antony who recently purchased a new home in Encino after filing for divorce against Jennifer Lopez who currently lives in Hidden Hills. I dont know if any of these rumors are true but they make for a good story.
The Calabasas home sits on more than 150 acres with the main home measuring 25,000 sqft that was designed by Santa Fe-based architect, Stephen Samuelson, using "various interpretations of adobe in Persian, Moroccan, Spanish, as well as Southwest American cultures" according to the September 2011 issues of Architectural Digest where the home was featured and you can view many great pictures of the property here
The Smiths also own a Hidden Hills home that measures 5 Beds/6 Baths on 5,976 sqft on a total lot size of 4.86 acres built in 1978 and was purchased on April 17, 2003 for $3.4 million. This home was supposedly the temporary residence for the Smiths while the Calabasas home was being built. Currently, the rumors suggest that this is location is where Jada Pinkett lives and has been spotted with Marc Antony assuming the rumors are true. Surprisingly or not, this home is not too far from Jennifer Lopez's home in Hidden Hills.

The Smiths also own a Woodland Hills home that measures 5 Beds/5.5 Baths on 4,146 sqft on a total lot size of 6,925 sqft that was built in 2007 and purchased on August 16, 2010 for $910,000. The purpose of this home purchase is unknown but could possibly be for family, investment, or even for the kids because when you have that much money, why not?

We currently await for any rumors to be confirmed and when we catch wind of it, definitely will post providing whatever pictures are available for this unique and massive property. Hopefully this is not true as I hope the Smiths will still call the SFV home.

The Calabasas area is home to many celebrities, athletes, and famous execs as discussed in this blog listed below:
  1. Marla Maples of Donald Trump fame sold Calabasas home for $2.2 million in July 2013.
  2. David Hasselhoff moves from Encino to Calabasas paying $1.95 million on May 15, 2013.

Celeb R.E.: Dr. Dre Building Mega Mansion in Hidden Hills?

Back on August 20, 2013, the always hilarious Your Mama at the Realestalker was the first to reveal that rapper, producer, and headphone entrepreneur, Dr. Dre, purchased two parcels totaling more than 5 acres in Hidden Hills for $10.5 million in October 2012 shortly after he had already purchased a $15.4 million Hollywood Hills home in the Birds street area. The fact that Dr. Dre shelled out close to $30 million on two different properties in a short period of time suggests that 2012 was an exceptional year for Dr. Dre (Forbes reported that Dr. Dre earned $110 million in 2012 alone through his various endeavors) and needed to spend the gains to minimize tax liability.

I have not been able to find other details regarding this transaction nor the exact address but I believe I found the vacant lots shown in the picture above which is next door to the mansion recently purchased by Jessica Simpson that was previously occupied by the Osbournes.

Dr. Dre has been residing in the West Valley since the early 90's as he currently owns a home in Woodland Hills (directly across from Scott Baio's home). I will follow up with another post on the various homes Dr. Dre has owned in the SFV which includes a mansion in Chatsworth and I believe Calabasas. Dr. Dre was also recording hits at Death Row which was based in Tarzana.

Celeb R.E.: Actress Donna Scott Purchases Kevin James Encino Mansion

Images courtesy Partners Trust Beverly Hills
Back on June 5, 2013, I blogged about funnyman, Kevin James', Encino mansion selling for $5,550,000 to an unknown buyer at that time. It appears according to the Realestalker who blogged back on August 22, 2013, that the mysterious buyer is actress Donna Scott who played a handful of small roles in films such as Days of Thunder, Get Shorty, Pulp Fiction, Austin Powers" International Man of Mystery and also on TV appearing in The Good Wife and Nash Bridges to name a few.

Donna unfortunately became a widow about a year ago back on August 19, 2012 when her movie producer husband, Tony Scott, jumped to his death off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro. Scott is known for producing popular films such as Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II, Days of Thunder (where he met Donna), and Unstoppable to name a few. Hopefully Donna's new home in Encino helps with the grieving process.

The home measures 3 Beds/2.5 Baths on 1,874 sqft on a total lot size of 9,491 sqft built in 1938. The listing description states:

This welcoming home also features hardwood floors throughout, built-ins, new central air/heat, recessed lighting throughout and copper plumbing. All this and Toluca Village is just down the street.
Its not known where Polaha and Morris are heading to next but I am guessing its somewhere in the SFV.

Celeb R.E.: Martin Lawrence Quietly Purchases Newly Built Encino Mansion

The latest rumor in the Encino Celebrity Real Estate market coming from the always hilarious Your Mama at the Realestalker is that venerable comedian, actor, director, screenwriter, and producer, Martin Lawrence, recently acquired an Encino mansion for $6,630,000 sometime in early June where the home was originally listed for $7.1 million.

The home measures 10,211 sqft with 7 Beds/7.5 Baths and according to the Realestalker:
the recently completed residence, located at the tail end of a long cul-de-sac lined with much more modest, mostly ranch-style homes.......Other features of the walled and gated three story mansion, as per listing details and other online resources, include half a dozen fireplaces, garage space for four cars, and a heated negative edge swimming pool with long and wide views over the San Fernando Valley.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to track this home or the online listings and the only information and sole picture available (rendering above) comes from the Realestalker who is rather accurate with his gossip so I believe it. However, its a bit odd that I cant find any info on this property especially considering that this sale price makes it one of the largest in the Encino market. So my curiosity is itching to locate and hopefully I can confirm said purchase in the coming weeks. I dont know, maybe I am losing my touch. If anyone has any info, please do share.

Other properties that Martin Lawrence own or previously owned including another home in the SFV are listed below.
Prior to the Encino home, Martin Lawrence called Beverly Park home which is known as the gated community for the uber rich (shown above). The home measures 6 Beds/10 Baths on 13,835 sqft on a total lot size of 2.24 acres built in 1992 and last sold for $17,200,000 on June 8, 2012. The purchase price and date is unknown but I would speculate sometime in the late 90's and possibly around $10 - $14 million which would suggest that Lawrence earned at least a couple of million dollars profit on this home. The listing description is below and listing photos can be found at the Realestalker
FRENCH CONTEMPORARY TENNIS COURT ESTATE WITH GRAND SCALE MARBLE ENTRY AND SALVATORE POLLIZZI STAINED GLASS SKYLIGHTS LEAD TO THE FORMAL LIVING ROOM, WINE AND DINING ROOM, GRAND FAMILY ROOM, GAME ROOM AND HUGE EAT-IN KITCHEN. Lawrence also owns a mansion and a nearby smaller property in Purcellville, VA. The larger home (shown above) measures 5 Beds/7 Baths on 21,517 sqft on a total lot size of 18.27 acres built in 1980 and last purchased for $1,250,000 on May 1997 or November 28, 2005 according to two different online sources.

The second property (shown above) contains an Unknown number of beds/3 Baths on 1,250 sqft on a total lot size of 10.01 acres built in 1980 and last purchased for $533,500 on February 27, 2004. This property is directly south across the lake from the larger property mentioned above which is shown below. I am not sure if Martin owns the lake and the properties in between.

Shown at the bottom with basketball court. Image courtesy Google Maps
Lawrence also owns a Toluca Lake property (shown above) that I believe was his first home and might be used by family now or an investment property. The home measures 4 Beds/4 Baths on 3,529 sqft on a total lot size of 0.58 acres built in 1974 and last purchased on July 31, 1992 for $640,000.

And here is one bonus. Lawrence's brother, Robert lives in Chatsworth which according to one gossip source has been responsible along with his sister-producer, Rae Proctor, for ruining Martin's career and marriages. Make of that what you will. The home (shown above) measures 5 Beds/4 Baths on 3,604 sqft on a total lot size of 0.41 acres built in 1980 and last purchased for $525,000 on October 19, 1999. This home might also be near the former Desilu Ranch owned by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz but dont quote me here.

Celeb R.E.: Steve Carell Very Quietly Unloads One of His Toluca Lake Homes At A Loss

According to online real estate sites such as Redfin and Zillow, it appears that Steve Carell of the hit TV show, The Office (filming locations can be seen here), as well as movie classics like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Get Smart, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy to name a few, quietly sold his Toluca Lake home for $5.1 million on March 21, 2013 (shown above).

This deal was so quiet that no other celebrity gossip site has reported it to the best of my knowledge and there are no online listings with photos which would suggest that the deal was completed as a pocket listing which avoids listing on the MLS and essentially through the hands of those in the know. Its entirely possible that I discovered this in error and Steve Carell never really sold this home or even occupied it since the ownership records are hidden behind a trust with no links back to Steve Carell so just some usual celebrity gossip but there are some clues that suggest otherwise.

The recently sold property measures 5 Beds/6 Baths on 6,637 sqft on a total lot size of 0.29 acres built in 1999 which was acquired by Steve Carell on June 8, 2006 at the peak of the bubble market for $5,650,000 which would indicate that Steve Carell took a hit of at least $550,000 on this sale not factoring in commissions, taxes, carrying costs, and any renovation expenses.

The reason why I believe Steve Carell sold this home is that he had acquired another Toluca Lake home around the corner from legendary and pioneering actor/writer Jonathan Winters (shown above) whose career spanned more than 6 decades and his list of accomplishments is too long for this post so I recommend viewing his wikipedia page. Winters passed away on April 11, 2013 at the age of 87 in Montecito.

This home was purchased on 6 Beds/5 Baths on 5,126 sqft on a total lot size of 1.27 acres built in 1937 for $6 million on April 13, 2010 which is linked to the same trust as the home Carell recently sold. This purchased was covered by Your Mama at The Realestalker on August 3, 2010. This property was later razed and custom built (as was revealed by commenters at The Realestalker) according to Carell's choosing with numerous mechanical and building permits filed throughout 2011 and 2012 (shown below). It appears that this property was completed sometime earlier this year coinciding with the sale of his first Toluca Lake home which allowed Carell to move into his new home.

The celeb gossip website Celebuzz! (which was posted back on March 5, 2013) reviewed the permits filed with the county and mentioned the following amenities for the home which might help explain why it took almost 2 years to complete:
According to public records filed with the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, the 50-year-old actor and his wife Nancy Carell have built their dream two-storey home -- a Cape Cod-style mansion in Toluca Lake, Calif -- complete with a giant swimming pool, spa, cabana, guest-house and private tennis court.
But Carrell's home "office" is a sight to behold.
In the massive 5028 sq ft basement, the silver screen comedian has installed his own home theater with powder room, its own bathroom and a recreation room — all served by an elevator.
His double garage is equally as impressive, too. The noted car enthusiast has built his own "automobile elevator", records reveal.
Both the elevator and a staircase can take guests to the second floor of the home, which has three bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms plus a ‘Rumpus Room’ for his two kids, Elizabeth, 12, and eight-year-old John, to play in.
What else is inside?
On the 7058 sq ft first floor, there is a guest room with adjacent bathroom plus a study, living room, dining room and a den which leads to an outdoor porch.
At the back of the house, there is a large kitchen with an adjacent breakfast room and Butler’s pantry.
Carrell, who also likes mountain bike riding, built a "mud room" -- a entryway intended as an area to remove and store footwear -- next to his laundry.
The grounds of the estate are beautifully landscaped with automatic lights throughout.

So based on the $6 million purchase price and the cost to build a custom home of about $4 million, Celebuzz! arrived at a total cost of $10 million which is a lot of money to spend in that area. But no other home in this area will most likely have all the amenities Steve Carell has, so this property is probably now looked upon in envy which is home to many celebrities discussed below.

Prior to this home, Steve Carell owned a Studio City home (shown above) located north of Ventura Blvd but south of the 101 measuring 4 Beds/4 Baths on 3,996 sqft on a total lot size of 6,896 sqft built in 2003. Steve Carell purchased this property on December 19, 2003 for $1.1 million and later sold on July 11, 2007 for $1.5 million representing a $400k gain not factoring taxes, commissions, carrying costs, and any renovation expenses which probably helped with the loss from the featured home discussed in this post. This home also links back to the trust used for the homes mentioned above and coincides with the purchase of the first Toluca Lake home.

In addition to maintaining a residence in Toluca Lake, Steve Carell may also own a West Hollywood condo measuring 1 Bed/1 Bath on 855 sqft that was purchased on June 15, 2007 for $715,000 that links back to the same trust but that is pure speculation so dont quote me. Lastly, Steve Carell also maintains a home  in  Marshfield, MA (shown above) nearby which is about 55 miles SE from where he was born and raised. This home measures 4 Beds/2.5 Baths on 3,326 sqft on a total lot size of 1.20 acres built in 1998 that was purchased on July 1, 2005 for $790,000.

Toluca Lake is home to many celebrities partially due to its close proximity to the studios and Hollywood. The following list are celebrity homes in the Toluca Lake area discussed on this blog:
