WTF? Squatting Real Housewife Now a Thief?

Or at least that's what TMZ says about Real Housewives of Orange County's Lynne Curtin. We previously reported that the homeowner had to call the sheriff to evict this alleged squatter after she failed to pay $12,000 in back rent. Now it looks like she made off with $5,000 in furniture, including a bookcase, credenza, and armoire. Seems the only things she left behind were holes in the walls, trashed carpet, and damage to the travertine bathtub. Real class!

We're still waiting to hear her side of the story, though. Lynne, we're ready to talk anytime you are!

Former NFL-er Keyshawn Johnson Now an Interior Designer

What kind of bizarro world is this?!!!

We told you last week what we thought of clothing designers like Georgio Armani venturing into interior design. Don't!

Now we've got ballers like former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson branching into the interior design world! Turns out that we're the only people who didn't know that A&E TV recently gave him a show, Keyshawn Johnson: Tackling Design.

We scouted around for photos of his digs so we could judge for ourselves. On the Real Estalker blog, we found his former California condo:

Johnson is said to designed several of his homes. Don't know if this condo is his handywork, but it's got a sleek minimalist look that we've grown a little tired of.

He is reportedly a fan of the "boutique hotel look" and Armani's Casa home collection (which Armani used in John Mayer's condo). Same thing, in our opinion.

In spite of that, we'll be sure to watch the show and report back on whether he has a bright future as a designer of other folks' homes! And let's hope he still has his own home after that builder gets done suing him.

Home Builder Has Beef Against Beefy ex-NFL Player Keyshawn Johnson

TMZ reported yesterday that construction company Gordon S. Gibson, Inc., recently filed a lien against former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson. Gibson claims Johnson owes more than $1 million for the supervision and construction of Johnson's Calabasas, California, home.

Usher's Plumbers Crack Us Up!

TMZ sure is keeping us busy this week! They just reported that Bobo's Plumbing Company is claiming that singing-and-dancing sensation Usher failed to pay them $2,335 for work, including the installation of a shampoo bowl back in 2007.

A shampoo bowl? What kind of bitch-ass dude wants a shampoo bowl at home? Geesh, what else is in his house? A nail salon? A hair wax station?

Well, here's a shot of his monster house. He could certainly fit all that--and then some!

According to Celebritydetectives.com, Usher paid $3.3 million in 2007 for his mega-mansion in Roswell, Georgia, an increasingly posh suburb of Atlanta. Obviously, $2,335 is pocket change for Usher, so there must be something seriously wrong with that shampoo bowl.

Federal F*CK-UP: Part I

Ah, politicians. Can't live with 'em/can't send 'em to Mars. Usually, we would feel sympathy for someone facing foreclosure, but WTF?!! California congresswoman Rep. Laura Richardson --who has an M.B.A. -- surely has some explainin' to do.

First, she bought her house in Sacramento with no money down and a subprime mortgage. Then, she didn't even bother to maintain her home, pissing off the neighbors by failing to mow the lawn or remove garbage and rotting fruit. In fact, the Sacramento department of code enforcement declared her home a "public nuisance" and "blighted."

She also failed to keep up the mortgage payments, ultimately owing $40K more than the purchase price of the home, $535K. After the bank foreclosed on the property, an investor bought it for $338K and started renovations. But, in an unusual act, the bank rescinded the foreclosure and withdrew the sale, apparently giving Rep. Richardson some sort of preferential treatment.

Needless to say, Richardson is now the subject of a House ethics committee investigation.

Too bad. The house looks sorta cute. (Photo by Randy Lynn Beach for the L.A. Times.)

WTF? Harvard Professor Gates Arrested at His Home

P.M. UPDATE: THE CHARGES AGAINST PROF. GATES WERE DROPPED TODAY!
The New York Times is reporting today that Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates, prominent scholar of African-American studies, was arrested AT HIS OWN HOUSE last week by a police officer who responded to a "robbery in progress" report.

Gates had just returned from a trip to China to his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He found his front door jammed and forced the door open, with the assistance of his cab driver. Someone saw this activity, called the cops and, well, we know where this is going . . . .

The funny thing is that the police officer acknowledged that Gates proved that it was his house, but claims that Gates became so belligerent that he had to arrest him for disorderly conduct. All we can say is, WTF?
Anyway, the house is cute. It is a part of the University's faculty housing network.

Celebrity Homes in Foreclosure

CNN reports today that 1.53 million U.S. homes are in foreclosure so far this year. And we're only halfway through the year. Unfortunately, even celebrities aren't immune to these rough economic times.

Photo: Vincent DeSalvio/Journal News
According to the Journal News, Actor Stephen Baldwin and his wife, Kennya, are in default on their home (pictured above) in Upper Grandview, NY. They owe more than $800,000 on a house that only cost them $515,000.

At first we thought only somebody like Stephen could let that happen to him, especially since we aren't talking about a terribly expensive house. And we suppose this could happen to anyone. But what we can't understand is, why his brother Alec (who is reportedly house-shopping in NYC) and the rest of the Baldwin clan can't help him out. Anyway, more details here.

Other celebrity homes in foreclosure include those belonging to Bravo's unReal Housewives of Atlanta and Orange County.

Nevermind that none of the Real Housewives of Atlanta really lived in Atlanta. They still faced the real issue of wannabes pretending to be high-rollers. Sheree Whitfield's ginormous home in the Atlanta suburb of Sandy Springs, GA, reportedly went into foreclosure in February, eventually selling via auction for $1.1 million.

We might as well mention that the trashy Atlanta Housewife NeNe Leakes lost her digs too earlier this year, but she was just a renter anyway. That was just more proof of her wannabe status.
Finally, Real Housewife Jeana Keough of Orange County -- another wannabe and a freakin' realtor -- also fell behind on her ostentatious home and various rental properties, but at least she was smart enough to seek a loan modification and put her home up for sale. For more details and photos of her less-than-stellar interiors, go here.

Looks like REALITY is the New Reality TV. Good luck to all of them in finding new digs.
