Photo Heart

I can't believe I said I would do something and I actually did it!

This is my photo heart...

I chose the photo's with a lot of thought and there's still a couple I'm going to swap out, but it is either people who are really special to me or it has really captured a moment in time I loved and always want to remember.

It makes me feel youthful again too, you know when you were younger and you'd stick photo's all over your wall.

What do you think?

Now to finish dressing the rest of the room.

Wrap it up!

You know when you come across something and it encompasses your style completely?  Well that's how I felt when I saw this lamp.  It was love at first sight.  This is me all wrapped up in a lamp and it needs to be in my house!!  The pair would look so good in my living room.  I found them at a great little home decor store called Stella Bleu.  They have a great selection of pretty chandeliers to modern glam furniture and accessories.  They are always a go to store for me when I'm looking for something special.  Now I need to convince the husband that these lamps are a necessity!

Photo Walls

I love this idea! What a fantastic way to share your photo's of all your loved ones or memories of your travels and experiences that has a more relaxed feel than frames.

This is my new project... if I ever finish it! (Have you noticed that about me yet??)

I want to do this in my spare room in a heart design.

My only question is you know when a room gets really hot especially in an upstairs bedroom, heat can cause the corners of photo's to curl or come away from the wall? Any ideas on how I can make them stick without actually having to glue them to the wall??

Last Home Tour of the Year!

To all my dear readers, I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! Mine was splendid, we celebrated at home and invited all our relatives over. It was a double celebration as only a few days before Christmas my eldest son sat for his last exam at university and is now an engineer!
Tomorrow we'll be going to a summer place called Chapadmalal where we will have no access to the Internet so I won't be posting again until we come back on January 16th.
So, as I won't be seeing you before, I'd like to wish you all now a very Happy New Year, and thank you for this wonderful inspired year together giving me support through your comments and cheering along which makes all my time spent on blogging definitely worth while! Thanks to each and every one of you, Happy New Year once again and I'll be seeing you soon!

And, of course, before I leave, I give you this stunning house.

Nestled in the old village of Champagne Sézanne, this seventeenth century house belonged to the Marquise de Beauharnais, Marie-Francoise (whose brother married Josephine, the future empress), Pascale and her husband Oliver, bargain hunters and passionate decorators, created a family home that opens its doors to the public twice a year to display their items on sale. Every room has been lovingly staged creating a unique holiday atmoshphere.

A real feast for the eyes. Let's step in.

Looking for something modern?

I am currently working on a modern family room with minimal colour.  A neutral pallet with great texture can be achieved by mixing fabric, metals and wood tones.  This is a great way to keep a modern space from feeling too cold.  Take note of the beautiful painting done by my friend and designer Karla Amadatsu from Kerrisdale Design.

A Fashionable Wednesday

I adore Nicole Richie, I think she is so cute and her style is fab. In order to celebrate her wedding held last weekend, I thought I would highlight Nicole for my Fashionable Wednesday.

There's so many images I could share, so let's call this Nicole part 1!!

I love her style whether it's casual running around town being a mum or attending events.

An oldie but I still think she looks great, purple is not an easy colour to pull off

Casual Chic - love this coat with her Birkin

Arriving in Australia - yeah this what I look like when I travel!!

She does denim shorts so well, love these looks for a casual summer day

About the Seller: Businessman Michael Slaney selling his French Castle on Lindhurst Ave

You can't miss it.  The towering Roxbury Grove residence with a French feel sits comfortably amongst other multi million dollar homes, normal for the Preston Hollow area.  Built in 2008 by Dallas businessman Michael A. Slaney, the mansion boasts a French inspired interior with a stunning media room (I just had to mention that).  And of course, a pretty big price tag accompanies the home: $6,250,000.

But what about Slaney?  How did he make his money?

Biofuels.  He pocketed hundreds of millions upon selling his co-founded biofuel company, ASAlliances Biofuels. The business was sold to an energy corporation in 2007 for $725 million dollars.  Not too shabby, aye?

According to records, Slaney also owns a smaller residence on Irvin Simmons Drive.  My guess is that he downsized.  It's not rare for the mega rich to build massive mansions and then the next day realize they do not need all the square footage.  Take the Champ d'Or in Hickory Creek for instance (the 48,000 sq. foot home, way too big for anyone!).

Slaney's current position: founder and managing partner at ClearDevelopment Partners, LLC, a clean energy company.  What a true entrepreneur!

Ready for Christmas in Stockholm

How nice it is to be home to spend my holiday with my family. I still have lots of things to do before Christmas but I'd like to show you this apartment in Stockholm before I start my busy day.

Located in Östermalm, a large district in central Stockholm, Sweden, it is all ready for Christmas. Gustavian furniture, gilded mirrors and a soft palette of greys and whites define this lovely home.

I'm sure I'll be able to make another post before Christmas. See you then!

Realistic Spaces

There's something I really like about these rooms and I think it's because they are "real" rooms! Good interiors can be so varied and I am more of a fan of not too styled rooms (however I do still appreciate them).

These spaces give me a feeling that people actually live in the spaces.

So cute, relaxed and bit girly. And if you look closely they are pretty much all Ikea pieces!
I heart you Ikea!

I love the combination of these pieces, the mirror, the table, the rug, the chair, built in bookcases...

Relaxed....

Celebrity Home - Pharrell Williams

This is the type of house I would expect Pharrell to have! Minimal, quirky art pieces and of course his LV/Murakami elements!

What do you think? Suitable for a musician/designer "kidult" hey?
