The Demolished Gene Fields House by Richard Neutra in Encino Hits the Market

This address was the location for the former Gene Fields House by renowned architect Richard Neutra who has designed many other architecturally significant homes in the SFV. I am not sure of the exact history of this home but at one point the owner (maybe current owner) demolished the Neutra designed home to make way for a new modern home shown in the pictures below. I am not sure exactly why I am posting this other than to say the site of the former Neutra home is currently on the market in the hopes (wishful thinking) that maybe somebody reverses the damage here and demolishes this house to remake the Fields home. However, there are no pictures available of the Fields home so I dont even know what it would look like.

5 Beds/5 Baths on 4,117 sqft on a total lot size of 0.62 acres built in 1957 in Encino. This home was listed for $1,790,000 on June 26, 2013. The purchase date and price is unknown but judging by property taxes appears to possibly be in the 70's.

Library and Fine Arts Building at CSUN Postcard

Neutra Designed Stone-Fisher Speculative Platform Home in Sherman Oaks Hits the Market

[Update June 5, 2013]: This home sold for $675,000 on May 30, 2013 which was $24,000 less than the original asking price but $336,500 above the original purchase price of $338,500 on May 31, 1990.

2 Beds/2 Baths on 1,432 sqft on a total lot size of 0.52 acres built in 1966 with an asking price of $699,000.      This was home was last purchased on May 31, 1990 for $338,500. There are several of these homes on this street designed by the renowned architect Richard Neutra with William Beckett and are known as the Stone-Fisher Speculative Platform houses. In addition to this home, Neutra has designed numerous homes in the SFV (as well as the world) discussed on this blog with one of his most notable being demolished in the 70's which was the Josef Von Sternberg house in Northridge. A similar home last sold on September 3, 2010 for $920,000 at 3737 Oakfield Drive. Currently, there is a similar home down at 3733 with an original asking price of $899,000 that was reduced to $800,000 and has been on the market since November 7, 2012 so it will be interesting to see who sells first and at what asking price.
