If you have ever driven down Strait Lane, I bet your mouth dropped upon seeing this Preston Hollow version of the Palace of Versailles. Smile! The palatial French residence is owned by Dr. Richard Malouf, a serial dental entrepreneur, and his wife Stephanie. The Maloufs own All Smiles Dental, a dental clinic with locations all over Texas including Garland, Lewisville, Haltom City, College Station, and more.
The couple purchased the estate back in the summer of 2009 from hair product entrepreneur Comer Cottrell and in the same year were named #42 on DMag's 100 Most Expensive Homes in Dallas.
I drove by Monday. It seems the Malouf's longed for a more grandiose entrance, if you will. An overpowering wrought iron gate is now constructed in line with the fountain centered circle drive and front door. I suppose the entrance is in fact a little more deluxe rather than “circling” up to the front entrance.
The estate is nothing short of the normal Preston Hollow residence. With 15,713 sq. feet and an appraised value of just under $10,000,000, a lot of smiles must have been corrected to pay for this manse...at a heavy cost. I'd love to see the home on a bigger lot, but it looks like the builders managed to squeeze the estate perfectly into place. Back amenities include a pool, spa, and a pool house. Oh yes, and don't forget about the basketball court. The basketball court is rather ironic because the Malouf's northern neighbor, Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki, has a tennis court. I wonder if Dirk asks to shoot hoops... Other amenities include landscaped outdoors, 5 car garage, 7 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, 3 kitchens, and 3 wet bars, typical north Dallas luxury.
Oh, and the address? One that raises eyebrows: 10711 Strait Lane. Yes, Strait Lane is known for its popular residents, former presidential candidate Ross Perot to already mentioned Dirk Nowitzki, and affluence.
